Letting Go of Your Limits
Sky is the Limit – Part One
God can do anything, you know—far more than you could ever imagine or guess or request in your wildest dreams! He does it not by pushing us around but by working within us, his Spirit deeply and gently within us. Glory to God… Ephesians 3:20-21 (MSG)
Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us… Ephesians 3:20 (NKJV)
My Internal Questions:
Do I have enough faith to believe in a big, big God? Do I really believe God can blow my mind with His goodness? Will I live by the “power within me”, or will I be swayed by circumstances? Will I be relentless enough to live by E320, even when things don’t seem to be going my way? Will I commit to this for the rest of my life, understanding the consequences in a fallen world? What the Bible says about a Limitless Life
Limitless Love (Ephesians 3)
Limitless Life (John 10:10)
Limitless Possibilities (Luke 1:37)
Limitless Starts (Lamentations 3:23-24)
Limitless Hope (Lamentations 3:23-24)
Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed,
Because His compassions fail not.
They are new every morning;
Great is Your faithfulness.
“The Lord is my portion,” says my soul,
“Therefore I hope in Him!” Lamentations 3:22-24 (NKJV)
The Root of our Limits
The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly. John 10:10 (NKJV)
Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV)
Our limits are not God’s fault, nor His desire for our lives.
The Story of Jesus and the Limited Man
Mark 5:1-20 (NKJV)
How to Let Go of Your Limits
Decide the time is now. And when He had come out of the boat, immediately there met Him… Mark 5:2a
Decide what will define you. …out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit… Mark 5:2 b
What we allow to fill us will either fulfill us or freak us out.
Worry or Peace
ii. Poverty or Abundance
iii. Depression or Joy
iv. Fickleness or Faithfulness
- Complacency or Creation
vi. Pride or Surrender
vii. Greed or Gratefulness
Decide what will fill you. When he saw Jesus from afar, he ran and worshiped Him. 7 And he cried out with a loud voice and said, “What have I to do with You, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? I implore You by God that You do not torment me.” Mark 5:6-7
God desires for us to be filled with a Holy Spirit.
Decide not to listen to lying voices any longer.
Then He asked him, “What is your name?”
And he answered, saying, “My name is Legion; for we are many.” (vs. 9)
Decide not to worry where your limits go. And at once Jesus gave them permission. Then the unclean spirits went out and entered the swine (there were about two thousand); and the herd ran violently down the steep place into the sea, and drowned in the sea. (v. 13)
Decide to let God renew your way of thinking. 15 Then they came to Jesus, and saw the one who had been demon-possessed and had the legion, sitting and clothed and in his right mind. And they were afraid. (v. 15)
- When you choose “limitless living” it will captivate the attention of others.
Decide to let everyone know why now “The Sky is the Limit”. “Go home to your friends, and tell them what great things the Lord has done for you, and how He has had compassion on you.” (vs. 19)
PC’s Personal Starting Points
Stop making excuses, do it today! This is the day the Lord has made;
We will rejoice and be glad in it. Psalms 118:24
Stare fear right in the face, and play knowing the only option is victory. “The Lord, who delivered me from the paw of the lion and from the paw of the bear, He will deliver me from the hand of this Philistine.” 1 Samuel 17:37
“You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the Lord of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 1 Samuel 17:45
Start with Praise! I will bless the Lord at all times: his praise shall continually be in my mouth.
2 My soul shall make her boast in the Lord: the humble shall hear thereof, and be glad.
3 O magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt his name together.
4 I sought the Lord, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears. Psalms 34:1-4
